novice dagger question

I'm looking for some info on this dagger. We're not sure what we have. It is stamped as an Eickhorn, I date the stamp to around '36. It has the Himmler inscription. Anyone help give us more info? Is it worth getting appraised?

You have a pretty unique dagger there, Sir. It appears that at some time, either the original owner or someone after the war, matched up an officer's M36 chain scabbard with a period Himmler M34 dagger. While the condition is average or a little above, the combination is very attractive. Himmler daggers were issued with the normally seen early standard anodized scabbards with an unmarked nickle clip and unmarked small leather strap. Like I have mentiioned, your's got mated at some time to a type II chain scabbard. I have seen this in the past a couple of time. While very unique, putting an accurate price on it presents some challenges in itself. M36 Chain daggers have been starting at $4000 up to the sky being the limit. Himmler daggers the same with the top end being $15,000-16, or more Now bear in mind this high number is for a totally mint piece, in the correct scabbard. Collectors on many forums are usually quick to name some outrageous figures on German militaria, but many times aren't willing to pay those numbers. None the less, from what I can determine in your somewhat fuzzy photos, it looks like you have a very desirable chain scabbard, and a true Himmler Dagger.

While I'd like to see some better photos (especially the maker's mark), I agree with JR that it looks like you've found a very rare combination indeed. The chain looks like a type two nickle, which is generally the more desirable and a matching "out of the woodwork" dagger. Really an nice score.

Just to add that there are other combinations. I purchased a chain/ full inscription Rohm some 18 years ago. Since sold.
