Fortunately, KS98's are not serial numbered. With that in mind, scabbards pop up on ebay from time to time. With a little patience, you should be able complete your E. Pack blade. Just keep in mind that there are two sizes. It appears you have the long bladed version (approx. 9******189;"). Good luck.

Just to be sure. My scabbard looks like this one. Is this a front of a side screw.

Here is a shot of a KS98 scabbard. 99% of these will bear no markings or serial numbers. In some instances, these scabbards were constructed with no screw in the design.

Here is the 84/98 III scabbard. Notice the location of the screw compared to the picture above. In this version, 99% will show either a manufacturer's name, a two or three letter manufacturer's code, also a serial number to correspond with the bayonet itself, and a waffenamt on the scabbard ball.

Mmm.... it is starting to get interesting but also confusing. So what we have here is a KS 98 scabbard, with a number on an odd place and not enamelled but blued.

So now we are left with to questions:

Why is this privately bought bayonet numbered?
Why is the scabbard blued and not enamelled like a privately bought scabbard should be?

Actually just a light stamping of 43asw which designates the piece as being made by E&F Hörster in 1943.
