    ebay dagger help

    hi
    i need some help with thease two daggers i found on the bay both are local to oz, ihave asked for more pics of the diplomat dagger but he wont send them to me? weird the other looks to be a rad dagger i sent him a detailed email about the diffrent types of dagger and how this was not a luft dagger (eather type)

    Stay away from the Diplo...if you are looking for a reproduction, you can find one that is being sold as a reproduction for less. One of these with any alteration or replacement parts will be difficult to do anything with in the future.

    The RAD Leader looks okay from the pictures, but the chipped grip will haunt you for the rest of your life and you will likely never find a replacement grip plate, let alone one that fits and matches the color of the other plate.

    I would save my money

      The Diplomat is 100% fake.

      The Rad is worth a closer look.
      At Rathau on the Aller, the CO of 5th Royal Tanks advanced on foot to take a cautious look into the town before his tanks moved in. He encountered one of his own officers, a huge Welshman named John Gwilliam who later captained his country's rugby team, 'carrying a small German soldier by the scruff of his neck, not unlike a cat with a mouse.' The Colonel said: 'Why not shoot him?' Gwilliam replied in his mighty Welsh voice: 'Oh no, sir. Much too small.'

        thanks to you both for the good info,yea i might look into the RAD blade the only problem is the grip,it is damaged and yea thats going o bother me a bit however it might lower the price quite a bit.

          you may be right i think the rad may be fake to boot the two ebay pics are bad but one clearly shows the chip and the back of the grip when comparing with a known original i noticed something that bugs me,both have a spiral grove that wraps round the handle and the detail at the back of the eagle head feather lines? the known original is different from the ebay blade ie both the spiral and the feather lines on the original stop hafe way and sort of form a
          ridge across the entire handle back,the ebay blade has the same spiral and featherlines however they do not stop and are unbroken
          i dont know if that makes sence but its enough to turn me off

              sorry about that..what i was trying to say was the ebay dagger and the comparison dagger have diffrent spines because the grips are made in diffrent ways

              looking at your spine (very nice pic buy the way) i realize that the ebay bade may infact be real

                No problem dread.

                I am not saying that the ebay piece is genuine but from what I can see of it I think it MAY be.

                Better pics would be required to say anymore than that.

                  Always stay away from blades marked with BERLIN as the city in the maker mark..

                  These are repro's.

                          Not strictly true Haco were Berlin based and marked but, yes, many fakes are marked 'Berlin' and even 'Germany'.
