DAVIS MALSCH Luftwaffe Sword

Greetings All,

I have a David Malsch LW sword with, what I believe to be, silver fittings. If it wasn't for the dings and bruising on the scabbard, I would call it excellent condition.

I'm entertaining the thought of selling it. What would be a fair price to ask on estand?

The condition of the scabbard will be a big factor in the sale of this sword.

My best guess re: value would be in the $700.00 - 750.00 range, but IMHO most collectors would rather pay a bit more for one with better leather. This should be a classic case of "whatever the market will bear".

Malsch is a less common maker, that is a positive. That said, I am not aware of too many "type" collectors of swords. Skip's right, scabbard leather is a negative and swords are fairly plentiful. The price sounds about right.

I'm not a sword or dagger guy but do pick them up from time to time. My best guess was around $750 so, I guess, I wasn't too far off.

If you have a steel rifle cleaning rod try ramming it down the scabbard, after removing the upper fitting. It would straighten out the scabbard shell and might help a little. Of course, replacing the leather as well would be the better solution.
