    German Bayonet??

I have seen this bayonet for sale on the internet. This is the only pic that I have. I know nothing about german bayonets, if this is german, it is marked 1295 on one side and on the other it is marked 43ffc. What is this? Seller claims that it is a pre-world war 2 bayonet. Help me with this please, thanks.

Hi duffer, it is a german bayonet in rather pooer condition the 43ffc is the markers code and I think it is for Friedr. Abr. Herder und S******246;hne the 43 is the year 1943 so it is not pre-war.
The number code I don******180;t know.
I would not buy It unless it is wery cheap.
    Regards Lassi

Lassi is correct and while the seller might claim that it’s pre WWII it is a 1943 dated German 98K bayonet by F. Herder. The other number is the bayonet’s serial number. It is also missing the complete catch mechanism to attach it to the rifle. Minus that and the scabbard it has very little value. FP
