Best Reference for German Daggers?

Hi Guys, is there any particular book or website that you would recommend as the best possible reference for German daggers? ideally one that covers WW1 through to 1990...one that explains and details all of the different types, the makers, the features of the daggers, what to look out for in terms of fakes and maybe also a little guidance on scarcity (numbers of dagger issued, etc.)...am I asking for too much or is there such a thing out there... PS: I am asking, because I want to educate myself a little and don't want to bother you guys with my silly questions about every dagger I come across... sorry about the silly questions that I had already asked and thanks again for everyone that helped...

Hi Torsten, no such thing as a silly question. Questions posed help educate us all and keep the forum ticking over nicely.

I don't know of any one book that does it all? Anything by Tom Wittman or Lt. Col. Johnson is a good place to start. There is certainly plenty of info online.

Johnson's Volume 1 is a good place to start with respect to simply identifying the various models of daggers produced and their relative availability. The price list would be woefully out-of-date, though.

The remainder of the Johnson series is good if you want more detailed information (i.e., variations, maker characteristics, etc.) as are the excellent books from Tom Wittmann.
