    Mint Wehrmacht Heer officers sabre

Hi folks. Just pulled out this mint sabre out of an old house near munich. Is anybody able to identify the maker? Production timeline would be nice to hear too. Thanks in advance.

Look at picture 5. Isn't that a maker.

          Hello Hagen,

Very nice dove head hear sword that you show here!

However if it would rate "mint" it should have preserved 100% original gilding.

In your pictures, it appears that almost all of the gilding has been cleaned away over time... So the rating of this sword cannot be "mint" in my opinion.

          Best regards,

          Victorman

Victorman thanks for your comment. Always a pleasure to read your opinion! Your definition of mint is correct and you have shown a very nice example. Here is mine. Feldherren series Wrangel model. Sourced it out of the Vet's family together with all his Fotos (3000), documents, medals, Uniform and even his fathers sabre who was an officer in Prussian army. Very proud of it. The brave Hauptmann did not wear it obviously. He died 1944 in Bessarabien/romania.

Now that is indeed a top conditioned sword, Hagen, with all the original gilding preserved! Congratulations!

This is not exactly the same example. Which of course only means that not all sabers are shown in this book. The handle mount next to the pin has the same pattern as the WMW saber on page 143. The eagle, ring and cross-guard pattern, however, differ in detail. It only means that there were at least several compositions from one producer.
