    Luftwaffe Sword by Gaesler

    Hello,
A friend of mine inherited a collection of various German items to include this sword. It immediately stood out to me because of its condition and light weight. I did a search and found a thread stating that many of these are considered repros, but the photos showing the correct marking for this maker are gone. After reading that thread, I am afraid that this one may be a repro but need your help as I'm no expert. As far as I recall, I saw no markings other than the maker mark.
    Thank you,
    Dale

I'm afraid that you are correct. Years ago I purchased a couple of reproductions for a friend of mine to put over his fireplace with the least possible investment. One was this sword that I believe was made in Spain. The "gilt" an orange colored shellac that tended to flake off leaving bare metal. FP

Thank you both for the help. I'll relay the bad news.
