Is the Damascus blade good?

Here’s some pictures of the tang.... I thought the drilled hole was for dunking the blade when it was being nickel plated?

Got from the seller. To me the tang looks bad and like I said I’ve never seen that style of Damascus. See what others say

looking at all aspects of the blade including maker mark would you consider it period?

Comparing it to the same maker mark on other Alcoso's there are a number of differences to the letters, particularly the way the A joins onto the L, but I don't know if this is caused by the type of surface it has been etched onto, I also thought the maker mark looked a bit bigger but I cant be sure, this maker mark is also normally seen on their type 4 "high lift" examples, but again I cant be sure it wasn't used with some of these guards. The tang looks like an early tapered tang which I don't think would be right for this late maker mark, but perhaps this has something to do with the type of blade. I would need to run my finger nail down the blade to feel if it was artificial Damascus or not. Sorry I cant be precise on this as these are not something I have studied much.
