SS Dagger wanted

First off..this forum is amazing. Just joined and I have spent several hours going through the critiques on ss daggers and trying to learn as much as I can. I tried to guess if each one was fake or not before reading the pros input. I think I need about another 35 years of experience.

Anyways, I have gotten kind of obsessed with finding one of these daggers. For the past few months, I have spent hours a day searching the internet and keep coming up short. My expectations may be off, but this is what I want: All nickel fittings, decent blade, grip without giant chunks out of it, not one that has been pieced together or has non matching parts. My upper end is right at about 3K. Any suggestions? Or does anyone have one they can part with?

My advice--there are no deals for nice SS items. 3k is probably a little low for what you want. Moreover, taking time, saving up and going for a top shelf example will always be a better long time decision. Just my thoughts.

Wallace I've been doing the same over the past few months, bookmarking about 10-12 sites and checking updates every week. And as The Red Baron says, you'll need to up your ante, probably in the $4-5k range. It's frustrating buying from photos, one reason being some sellers are terrible photographers. Don't hesitate to ask for better quality pics..you may see something you'd otherwise miss. And before buying and after getting the best photos, get the dagger verified either here or at War Relics. Lots of helpful experts at both places. There are some shows coming up, a good chance to see all this stuff in person: July 24-25 / Nov 6-7 Wilmington, OH, Sept 16-20 York, PA, Feb 17-21 Louisville. With German daggers, sometimes you can get a bargain, sometimes you can't but you must know what you're doing. SS daggers are always in demand and prices for unmessed with examples are always high, generally speaking as there are a lot of very good fakes and humped up parts pieces out there too. Stick with a reputable seller, you'll pay more but be able to sleep at night.

Thankyou. I have a few more I am going to get checked out. If they are all busts, I am going to go to lakesidetrader and call it a day. My son will just have to settle for community college. Ha!

Look at Wittmann's site also. Selection and picture quality are good, but get evaluations before buying!

Hi Wallace.

I totally feel you. I looked for a good SS for years before buying one that turned out being a fake. Luckily I managed to return it and as it happened a friend of mine managed to get a mint RZM SS directly from a Finnish SS veteran and sold it to me for much less I spent on that fake piece. As people here already said, don't rush and buy something that you wont be happy with in the future, but wait for the real keeper.

Also, a classic thing to happen is that you save money for something specific but cant find it and then spend your savings to something that is "quite nice" and BUFF the thing you were looking for years appeared in front of you but now you don't have the money to buy it.

Wallace-I really liked this one but their blade pics are poor..they even sent me a couple more that were weak. The logo side looks pretty buffed out, maybe a ground Rohm? Never got an answer on that. I've seen they're a very honest dealer; they hyped me their return policy but I didn't want to put out all that cash then deal with a return when a couple quality photos would've been convincing. Don't know if you'd wanna pursue it further, just thought I'd bring it up.

This is an extremely rare and special dagger. This is up there with ASSO in terms of rarity.
