After reading about the NPEA daggers I did some looking around at them and find them to be very interesting. I know it is a bit off topic, but is there any good books about those schools. I have the Wittmann book with the NPEA daggers in it, but was looking for some history about the schools too.

Great another dagger I am lusting after .

I like NPEA dagger, especially the leaders version. However, I have to say they are a pain in the but! There (in my mind) is no such thing as a "textbook" NPEA leaders dagger. All of the big names disagree on what they feel is correct and from their experience. Which with the rarity of these no-body has seen a large enough sample size to determine this.

If you look back through this thread a contributor, Ron Weinand, is the author of a book on this subject.I'm sure he could help if you contact him.

            Thanks Ian!
To my understanding Ron W., Gailen and TTW all have their own views on what is proper for these daggers. I do not mean in respect to authenticity but period configurations. I have one that was a vet purchase and a little different. The names I mentioned whom I greatly respect have made their conclusions drawn on their vet purchases over the years. I would truly be shocked if any of them have purchased more than 5 of these each from vets. In my 25+ years and extensive numbers of vet purchases I have only bought 1. My partner Jim has bought 4 SA high leader daggers from vets over the years too many SS EMs to count and many chained SS daggers. Since all of these rock solid and very dependable people have different opinions, this is the conclusion I have come to. Which is too small of a sample size to make an accurate assumption. What they would not like about mine is the cross guards are silver with school markings. The scabbard is plated and this configuration is what some would call a put together. Anything is possible but from past experience it is very unlikely that a vet or someone over the years just put these 2 pieces together. If it were done by the vet who brought it home I would expect to see a SA or SS dagger, not a NPEA.

Robert hi, I would like to see pics of that piece if you still own it. Unless its been sold, traded or Jim has talked you out of it. and Jason: thats how it all starts just looking "window shopping" then hell its all over but the buying of pistols Bret

I have my own under valued or over looked criteria. Divers knife ranks #1 in my book. most collectors dont even care. amazing pieces and a working piece not a dress item. Bret

I agree with ColoradoWhile there are a lot of undervalued daggers I think the DRK officer and the RAD officer are underpriced at the rate they are going the EMs are going to get higher in price than the officers. The RAD is close now.I personally do not care what they will be worth,I buy what I like ,if they are all worth $25 apiece in five years that will be fine with me.
