HJ knife C. D. Schaaff

Hi all,
Picked this up recently, and wanted to get some opinions.
Camera shots were not good, so all I have are scans.
Motto is not deeply etched and the diamond does not wiggle.
Other than those two items, I like the knife. Small amount of paper
in the scabbard, and leather strap has an oakleaf stamp.
Should I have any concerns about no diamond wiggle and faint motto?

Look good from what I can see in the photos. I'd not be too concerned re: the non-wiggling diamond...most likely the guy putting in grip diamonds was just having a good day at work and did an extra thorough job on yours.

The etching still bothers me a little, since some knives are deeply etched
compared to mine.

The depth of the etch varied not only from maker to maker, but sometimes different lots by the same maker. I wouldn't let the depth of the etch stop you from enjoying your find.

It looks fine, nice knife. I have an early HJ knife from the Vet's son and the diamond does not wiggle. I have inspected it closely and it appears the bakelite grip is cut smaller and the diamond can't move. They all start out somewhat tight and loosen with use.
