    Gestapo Kosh!

    Hi guys,
got this awesome little 'kosh' in with a veterans box of 'bring-backs' (all nazi). This was the only item that the old lady knew anything about, she said her husband called it his 'gestapo kosh'...
what do you all think? no markings, and hurts when you even just tap your knuckles with it!
    regards
    jon

              Hi
              Nice one.
These things are starting to pop up now. Unfortunatly they are not legal in my country.

              /Jacob

                Jon,

These expandable batons have been around and in use by the German Police since the 1920s. It is hard to determine the time period as they are still being made. Some of the early ones are marked, "Sipo" (Sicherheitspolizei) on the base of the handle. Ones with lead tips seem to be earlier while ones with rubber tips seem to be postwar. I hope this helps.

                  interesting, thanks
it is totally without markings, and the 'ball' seems to be of hard rubber or resin, as hard as lead though! This came from a bunch of ww2 vet stuff, no other stuff was in the box, and I didn't have reason to doubt it's age... but, you never know!
cool thing though, is it legal in the US?

                    Jon,

They are legal to possess but not legal to carry (for civilians) in most states.

Pretty mean looking however, bet it could cause a lot of damage to a person, hmmmmm.

On the site Snyder's treasures is one for sale for $999.99 (with damage)
