    G 33/40 Bayonet

Recent pickup. Interesting that it was made in '43 but they stopped production of the G 33/40 in '42. Anyone know more about these?

This is a S24(t) bayonet, as the G33/40 only could use this, but the configuration could be added on any Mauser 98 system rifle or carbine. The piece is in depot condition, probably few time used, as only minor wear as is visible on scabbard frog spures. b.r.Andy

The Czech made rifles had a good reputation with the Germans, the first ones in use by them came from already manufactured ex-Czech Army examples. Then Czech pattern bayonets were made under German control with Waffenamts at both factories. The factory at Bystrica continuing, but omitting the muzzle ring and changing to blueing. What the Germans called Tschechoslowakische Waffenfabrik AG BrĂ¼nn, which had been making some weapons for (mostly) Germany's Ally Romania resumed bayonet production for Germany using the "dot" letter code in 1942.
