    Type 33 field phone battery

This battery came with a type 33 field phone I have owned for quite sometime. I was wondering if anyone new who made these? It is set up to use 4 modern C batteries. Homemade job?
    Thanks Jackboot

The carbon transmitters for the FF-33 (used in the FF-33) are designed for 1.5V

Using more than 3V is definitly a great risk for the carbon element.

Unoriginal transmitter may require higher voltages.

A good idea may be to measure the milliamps going from the battery when speaking.
An average between 20 and 30 milliamps are ideal, 50 and more are really bad, to little and it will not work properly.

Thank you sir. Actually this set up is using 3 1.5V C batteries. As I stated it was with the phone when i purchased it. Jackboot

It looks like somebody hollowed out an original (post war) battery housing. I don't think it was mass produced.

            regards,

Thanks funksammler. So a hollowed out post war battery with reproduction label. Then constructed using three C batteries. Home made job. Why three and not just one C battery with 1.5 volts? Thanks Jackboot

The only good reason might be to get voltage enough to use a modern transmitter (microphone) with electronics.

I do not like to admit it, but the sound gets better.
