It says "Verwendung: Bau", so I guess it was used on building sites. There used to be a panel fitted on the top compartment but what for is a bit of a mystery. Are the power connectors male or female? Are this remains of cut cables going through the inner walls (where do they go)?

    regards,

Yes, I think there was a panel fitted under the top lid with switches and gauges. There was a big cable running through the panel from one compartment to the other. The plugs are in fact sockets, so female. Maybe there was a big cable in there with male plugs, put in the metal holder between the sockets.

My thoughts where it's maybe also generator related, since I have an enormous Luftwaffe generator and somewhere it also says LGK (lade gerät ...)

Indeed, probably an extension cable box to distribute 380/220 Volt around building sites. The upper panel probably held some switches and automatic fuses.
