    jaw dropping!
apart from the sheer number and quality of items, the thing that the majority of us, poor mortals, absolutely lacks its a proper exposition room. I bow in awe...

A longstanding famous collection, Beck managed to get in early and was in the right place! At least the Mannheim is indoors now, used to be out in the garden!

        Interesting

I'm totally speechless to see this.
        Everything is so good quality.

Earlier times here in Norway there were large warehouses with German communications equipment that were available. As late as the 90's, several tons of German radios were found. Much was thrown into trash.

LA6NCA - did you get your hands on some of this loot?

At least you, FS and 90% of the collectors here are in Europe, which makes things much easier for you. Imagine how expensive and harder it is to be in the USA and collect these things.

There was a massive Luftwaffe supply base near where Beck lived. When the war ended the locals took all sorts of items. When Beck started collecting he managed to get a lot of that stuff from the locals. Without a doubt it is the most comprehensive collection of Luftwaffe gear out there. So yes, it does help your collection if you literally sit on a rich source. For the most, the large collections here in Europe are those that got in early. It would be impossible to build a collection like Beck's today but in certain specialised areas we might try to rival it....

Or if you're a billionaire. You can outbid everyone else and not give a damn about shipping costs. I knew someone who did that with a tank collection.

Well, getting into tanks is probably the best way to get rid of a few of those millions!

                  My first German radio

I got my first German radio by a radio repairer when I was 10 years old.
He realized that I was interested in technology and I got a Lo1UK35.
I was so impressed with the mechanical design.
Later I also got the E10K, this one was wonderfully well designed.
Later in the early 2000's I started working a bit with them and I asked a radio amateur friend if he had any German radios.
I would make a small collection and website about them.
I can have someone lying here, yes. Come on tomorrow, I'll be looking for something.
When I arrived the day after I became completely speechless.
The entire courtyard was full of German radios.
I had to drive many tours with trailers to bring everything home.
                  And everything was free.
Later I have received many big loads cheap or free.

                      Nice collections

I am so fortunate that I have seen the Horst Beck collection, and also the collections of both Funksammler and LA6NCA, and I think they are all fantastic Collections!

Horst Becks has a lot of items that are impossible to find today.
But the Collections of Funksammler and LA6NCA are also very impressive, even though none of them have a Complete Mannheim.

I especially loved Funksammlers setup With the long wire drop-antenna. Amazing!

                      Best regards,

                      Leif-Tore
