    Hello

Find on wikipedia this device : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beat_frequency_oscillator

    the bfo : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beat_f...ront_Large.jpg

What type of receiver or equipment could be used ?

Pretty much any radio that had a suitable IF strip that lacked a bfo I suppose.

Also, R und S were/are makers of high quality test gear so it may also have been that.

It is a piece of lab/diagnostic equipment rather than a piece of operational radio equipment. I think I have a postwar Philips version somewhere, never used it....

I think that the wiki description "Separate BFO oscillators were manufactured for receivers that didn't have them" is a bit of nonsense. Regenerative receivers like the Torn.E.b don't need them and heterodyne receivers like the Kw.E.a had a built in beat oscillator to receive A1 modulation. VHF sets like the Fu5 used A2 modulation so again the receiver did not need a beat oscillator.

        regards,
