    Nora Award Radio

Here is a what I believe is a Nora Award Radio that I picked up recently is response to a newspaper ad. The only reason I have any idea of what it is, is due to the ONE post in this forum that showed a radio that looked similar.
This radio is 18" long, 12" high and 7 1/2" deep.
In that one post the approximate price was given. For that I am extremely grateful as the owner was "fishing" and wanted an outlandish amount for it.

The inside view. The anode batteries are out but it still has a power cord. I have not tested it and probably never will as I am afraid of burning it up.

This radio appears to be in much better condition than the photos show it to be. The paint on the top is not really "worn" off. It looks like the wood may be of a different grain and the paint didn't adhere as well as on the other pieces. Even though the handle recesses into the top side I do not think anything was stacked on top of it.
Besides all that, now I know why professional photographers charge so much. It is almost easier to find this stuff than to photograph it .

Bill, is this a standard barracks radio for a squadron of men? Or have I listed it improperly as an "award" radio, which I presume would be given to a specific individual?

                      Grüß Gott,

Your radio is a Siemens LW Troop Radio....these were used to listen to radio broadcasts throughout Europe. The NORA radio is a different manufacturer, plus the NORA has a different design. I have a NORA and Philips Rundfunkempfänger. Here are some shots of the Philips radio:
