They are from the period, but probably not military. Having looked at these in detail in the past, no Wa.A or BAL markings could be found. I have also not found this type in any army manuals. They also typically did not have automatic (dial-up) exchanges in military installations. So these were probably used in civil defence shelters and industrial applications...

            No !

            Good evening all
I do not believe these are ww2 German "Bunker phones".
There is a very similar one on e&ay right now .. it's BIN at well over €1000.00 !, an extortionate price, it has had an etched date of 1941 placed on the inside, it has been placed there deliberately to deceive
I believe there is some suggestion that they were used post-war in heavy industry, others used in mines / subterranean works.
That's my thoughts, I have never seen a photo with one of these types in a ww2 German bunker, please feel free to post photographic proof .. I'll be happy to place one in amongst my collection of 14 FFS if you can .

Most of these appear to have a factory test date ink stamped on the rim where the front panel screws on. They all share this feature so I do not believe these stamps to be fake. Also the components such as the capacitor and ringtone generator (used in the version without dialer) are from the wartime parts bin and dated as such.

I do agree that they are not military, but that does not preclude them being used in civil defence air raid shelters etc. And I do agree that the sellers will have to come down an awful lot in price until people will be interested in buying them!

Indeed it would be interesting to find some period photographs....

              regards,

              Funksammler

Is this enough proof for the date to prove that it is not put there deliberately

I see what your talking about,,,,

Ok!! So you're saying both are faked ?

This phone is in the USA and I'm in the UK and I have never seen this phone before and neither do I know the seller, ,,,,, So how come that MY stamps are identical to this one,,,, perhaps .. just maybe they all came from the same source and faked by sais same person ? in the Eu,,,,,. Nope..

Maybe I etched mine and the other guy etched his and by pure chance of miracle we both got the same stencilling, put them in the same place on the phones. Ya think? Nope..

I know where mine came from 100%
So how do you explain the identical date stamps ?
                    .
                    .
                    .
                    .
                    .
                    .
Ohhhhh I know,, they were done at the Siemens factory where they were made in 1941.

As for photographic proof,, I guess that will have to come maybe later as I don't have any. And yes it would be nice for clarification either way.

All the evidence points at these being made for industrial purposes, I still do not have any problems with the date stamps (I think they are just ink stamps, not etchings....). The "wast" in the typenumber probably stands for "Wasserdicht" which ties in the the "Sch" code for mining equipment.

jeeeensy, you say you know exactly where yours comes from, what sort of facility was yours found in?
