Unkown Radar Equipment ?

Hi,

I've just came back from a Fleamarket and I've bought this box with a piece of heavy metal (I think a radar piece).
Can someone identify what it is ?
It is dated with 1944.
The originally colour of the box is yellow.
Does anyone know how I get rid of the darkbrown paint on the outside of the box ?

Indeed looks like a slotted waveguide, for a pretty low frequency (decimetre wavelengths...), which could fit with German radar use. Try to clean the markings on the box. One word looks like "hochemp....." (hochempfänger??) There is probably more text on the left side of the lid as well. Maybe shining a torch in parallel with the surface will bring out the lettering. Especially if there are numbers on the box this may provide further clues (e.g. 62 or 64 could be Würzburg related). Also are there any marking on the side of the "rails" to indicate frequency or wavelength?

In any case, it is most likely a piece of test or measuring equipment.
