    Se 499 a1 tranceiver ??

    This is my newest radio.
Does anyone know anything about this?
Was this in use in Germany?
    This comes from Sweden.
Sweden bought this from Telefunken during WW2.

Val asked me for pictures of the inside of the radio.
    I'll take it later.

The SE 499 A was Telefunken's entry to meet the army's specification for the "Tornister Funkgerät b", to replace the ageing Torn.Fu.a/a1. The Telefunken set was pitted against a design entered by Lorenz during the 1935 army trials. The more modern Lorenz design won, we all know the winning set as the Torn.Fu.b1. For all who are wondering if there ever was a Torn.Fu.b: yes there was for a brief period in 1935, it was the SE499A!

You can read about it here: http://www.radiomuseum.org/forumdata..._rev05_3_V.pdf

Following the loss of the army contract to Lorenz, Telefunken offered the set for export. Austria, Finland and I believe Norway ordered the set. You can find some telefunken documentation here: http://www.cdvandt.org/Tel-data-SE499A-2.pdf

As mentioned earlier, Austria ordered 180 sets. After the "Anschluss" the Austrian army was incorporated into the Wehrmacht, so the SE499A was used in small numbers by the Wehrmacht after all....

      Thank you LA6NCA.

In connection with 499A it might be interesting to read about it's close relative that was exported to Swiss.

        Thanks for info

        Thanks for the interesting information.
I'll take pictures from inside the radio later.
I think that Torn.Fu.b1 is a much better and more modern radio than SE499a.
Sweden bought some of these radios.
12 of these were given to the Norwegian units trained in Sweden during the war.
These 12 radios were returning to Norway in the spring of 1945 with the Norwegian police troops.
It's one of those you see here.

        Regards LA6NCA.

          Inside the SE499A1

I have now taken some pictures from inside the SE499A1.

Does anyone have a schema for this?
It would be interesting to get this operative.

Here is the website I made:
