    it seems the core (La) was made of copper, the rest of brass...
    (At least on this piece...)

      Many thanks for this excellent thread, it made all the difference for me when I had to chose from a Czech and a real German Vermittlungschnur!

        I have got some original German plugs, most of these has bent spring, and the bakelite grip are broken, or relapsed. No cord, or pretty worn cords from the Kleiner Klappenschrank. Those with cord are (almost) impossible to take apart.

        I had one with broken red grip, I have connected a wire with a 1/4" plug where I cut off a little on the handle to get a suitable length, and it works.

        Does original old plugs in bad shape have interest/value?
