Elektron - used as incendiary material for bombs

    Based on this wiki page:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elektron_(alloy)

Looks like our favorite alloy used for making Wehrmacht radio chassis, was also used to make incendiary bombs. When it's lit it doesn't stop burning and can penetrate armor plate.

All down to the magnisium content I suppose. I have seen several burned out radio chassis without any signs of the material itself igniting so the ignition temperature must be pretty high. Mind you, almost any metal can be burned if you make it hot enough and give it enough oxygen!

Used also on MGs Dreibein, aviation engines and many other. I can imagine the alloy was cheaper than using aluminium only.
