I am aware that there were a couple German agent stations, at the least,
on the East Coast U.S.A. - one in Quebec, and one in New York state.
Both used standard KM radio pair RS20 + R3. What I have to suspect,
is that with non-optimum antennas, these stations had to work to
U-Boote which would relay to intelligence HQ in the Reich. But I have
never seen anything in print that hints at that. According to a fellow
I communicated with, the Quebec case was reported in a French
language newspaper there, something like La Prense, but I have never
had time to pursue that lead. In the NY case, I communicated with
a fellow there who had been in on a raid on the agents' rented house
in Gloversville. The spy team took off in a hurry, but dropped an R3.
The antenna was entirely in the attic of the house. "Someday" i
will write up this story, but too many time pressures now. BTW,
collector Tony Grogan, who passed away last year, owned a more
standard Agentenfunk radio. I don't know for sure that it was
captured in the U.S.A., but I sort of assume so. -Hue
