    Panzerfunkanlage used in Hetzers

Someone I know is restoring a Hetzer, and he wanted to know what intercom boxes, etc., were used in the Hetzer. Panzerjager 38 was made in mid-1944 and I thought it would be a Kasten20, but Kasten 20s are for 2 receivers. The Kasten 24 is for 1 receiver, and the Hetzer had a simple Fu5 configuration.

    Any thoughts?

I have had this discussion before, I believe a Pz kasten 24 makes more sense. Not just because of the single receiver configuration, but also because of the placement (As far as I am aware it is placed in the rear top left of the vehicle). The 20 is designed to be placed between Funker and Driver while the 24 is designed to be placed between Funker and Commander. Since the commander had to be able to speak via the radio and the driver not, this means the microphone connections of the two boxes are wired differently.

But (there is always a but), since I have never seen the relevant D-manual for the Hetzer, I can't be sure...

    regards,
