I don't think the a and b models ever went into production, they were probably only early development or evaluation models by competitors. Only the Mw.E.c was produced in large numbers from about 1936, forming part of the Fu4 installation.

I know there is a reference to the a and a1 models in the Waffen Arsenal, perhaps they found these references in a very early vehicle "Dienstvorschrift" dating from a time that they were still planning and evaluating their options.

According to this page there was first Mw.E.a and Mw.E.a1 forming FuG 4, and Mw.E.a - Mw.E.b, forming FuG8.
