Goliath U-Boat Transmitter

Here is an interesting article "in Russian" about the German Goliath U-Boat VLF/LF transmitter. This was built in 1943 and put out 1 MW of power and was considered the most powerful transmitter in the world at that time. The Soviets loaded this transmitter onto 3,000 rail cars and shipped it to Nizhny Novgorod, where they reproduced it completely. It's still being used today to communicate with Russian U-boats.

[Talking about U-boots: I was in Kiel this week and had an opportunity to visit the U-boot museum and the impressive Memorial.
