    Telephone Cable Laying Poles

Were the telephone cable laying poles painted in Heere and Luftwaffe colours or just varnished irrespective of which branch of the Wehrmacht used these?

    cheers

If you are refering to Cable Reel (Kabeltrommel) than the answer is Panzergrau.

Difficult to tell from historical photograhs if any of the poles were painted or not. On all the poles I have seen the wood is unpainted with only the metal parts painted black or grey.

Thanks for your reply, Funksammler. I also have a 2-part pole. The wood is varnished, not painted in any colour. The metal parts have been painted in black. But it just seemed a bit odd to me that the poles hadn't been painted bearing how much wood was painted - except for rifle butts etc.

I've been looking for those poles, do you know where to find any for sale?

Many thanks smoczy for contributing to this particular thread with your very interesting photos. The wooden pole sections being painted black along with the metal attachments does make sense to me.

              Cheers!

The metal parts are black and the pole is unpainted.
