What kind of headphones are these?

They have no stamps nor maker's code.

Not seen these before. It appears that these were intended to clip on standard headphone earpieces. What is the diameter of earpiece sockets?

I have a similar set, missing the plug unfortunately, otherwise complete. They are definitely german WW2 manufactured, marked Ln and a number + makermarked and 1944. They are quite heavy and uses the same interior speakers as in the FF33. The strange thing is that you can individually "open" and "close" for the left and right speakers because of a hinge so that you can choose to hear or not hear whats going on "outside".
I do not know what they where used for, Ln should inply Luftnachrichten? (Flugmeldemess- und Jägerleitung)?

I had never thought they were german WWII because of the making, even having bought them from Germany, so I had not tried to fit the german earphones...but some standard Dfh.a fit in perfectly There are even some little holes to fit the pivots!! I'll try to shoot some photos. Do you think they could be Luftwaffe?

I have tried them on, but even extending them, they won't fit me ( and I haven't got a big head)

I´m sorry, but they are packed away at the moment and because of my current membership it is not possible for me to post any fotos. A normal radio headsets speakers might fit over it, but thats a coincidence and is not how they work, believe me, a normal FF33 speaker is fitted on each side placed in a made for these headsets only bakelite housing. The maker markings are similar to what I have seen on boxes containing the Feldfernsprecher 43. If I can I will try to post a foto later on.

Their construction would make sense if they were meant to be used for the Luftnachrichtendienst (for example someone sitting in a Jägerleit-operations room being able to hear whats going on in the room as well as in the speakers).

Sorry I meant I have seen exactly the same maker markings on Kopffernsprecher 43 boxes before (looks like NEB or something).

hello i also have the same headphones , i get them with a part of
the cable , i replace it , i had thought it was for artillery use
closed when gun is firing and open in other circumstance
may be am i wrong . from memory mine are DFH f

Hi there,

Just came across this thread when looking for info on "a strange headset" that I bought some weeks ago:






This one has bakelite speaker housings. Quite heavy and also opens up like discribed in the first message.

It has a very small two-pin plug thats seems to be originally attached. Don't have a clue what it should fit into.

Anyone ? Someone recognise L-number ?

Well, new information, GREAT

I would say the L code is for Luftwaffe items, now I still don't know what these headsets were for I guess we should ad up all the previous information and think the were used for Lufwaffe personnel directing fire or working in an operations room. At least two members have some of these with the L code and maker's logo NEB or similar.

This is VERY interesting indeed . Would it be possible to see a closeup of that plug Ton, please? I think it would be an idea to post it in the Luftwaffe equipment section to see if the plug might fit into something in a plane. My headset is exactly like yours, only yours is in better condition has a tag on the cable. The cable is quite long. Also (mine is packed away), but as I remember it had a Ln-number embossed on it, perhaps inside the bakelite housing, but it might just be that L-number then as yours has.
