canvas bag ?

Hello Funksammler.
A question for you
"I think" .. in the equipment volume of John R Angolia & Adolf Schlicht Uniforms & Traditions of the German Army 1933-1945 (deep intake of breath).. there is a photo of a FF33 canvas transit bag with strap, I don't have the book to hand at the moment so I cannot check if my memory is correct.
Have you ever seen such a bag, or do you think that a canvas bag happened to be a similar size to the phone .. and so it enters into history as a legitimate FF33 transit bag.
I have never seen one other than in the book, it might have been a white canvas bag..possibly

I have the book, on page 211 there is a 1944 white linnen cover, purportedly for a FF33. The cover does not have a strap, the normal strap was used attached to the FF33.

Although I have not seen such a cover myself and can not verify it is an "official" item, it does however make sense to use a cover in winter. It seems to be a better solution than covering it in whitewash.

The only "official" carrying bag for the FF33 I know is the cavelry pattern leather backpack, which allowed the FF33 to be carried on the back by mounted troops.

As you suggest, painting the FF33 in white wash would be a bit extreme, although when you see photos of "whitened" mg34's .. anything is possible
I have a couple of Steel cased units similar in size to the FFS, they not specifically phone related but might be of interest, they are packed away after a house move so when I get them back home I will post a few pictures.

on page 40 of your book you indicated that german DC wire telegraph had no name and not even a description or manual of the device is known. I got the manual - "Diensvorschrift D782" and the device was called "Der Summer-Telegraph 40 (Sutel 40)". Let me know if you need a copy

Hi. I´m new on this forum (several weeks) and I´m still viewing threads of my interest. Perhaps this post is to old but I´ve seen it and if it can helps I have to say that this image belongs to some of my FF33 stuff, got from military scrap lots and it´s completely original. Its origin could be from Spanish Civil war (1936-39) german aid to rebel forces or received in 1943 from a spanish Armed Forces resupplying program called BÄR. The capsule is marked 1938.

Of course, I also want to thank you Funksammler, your serious and detailed work that helps us to know much more about the materials that make us spend time enjoying our common hobby.

2016 edition of the book is nearly ready

I am about to publish the 2016 edition of the "German line communications equipment of WW2".

- Over 180 pages
- Over 300 pictures and illustrations
- Addressed errors, replaced some incorrect equipment
- Additional sections and additional equipment added

As before, the book will be available free of charge and can be downloaded from my dropbox folder. I will publish the link soon

Many thanks to all of you who have commented, contributed and have helped with the realisation of this book.

With this work behind me I hope I can now focus on producing a sister volume about portable radio equipment, just a few years more work I suspect!
