There is an incredible amount of work in this book! This could be the definitive text on the subject and I strongly urge you to contact the likes of Schiffer Publications to get this in to print. If they are not interested, then there are print on demand publishers like Lulu.com that can handle the printing.

I will download your book and absolutely respect your wishes. I would caution though that others may not. Several individuals have downloaded photos and other information from my site which is specifically copyrighted, without asking for permission. I'm even considering placing password access on it to get an access control list in place.

Thanks all for the feedback so far! It goes to show that no matter how often you proofread and spellcheck, mistakes remain.

I actually did get offered a deal on the book by Schiffer, but the editing and marketing obligations take the fun away out of the process. I have also been working with Heimdal locally, but that was taking me in a direction I did not enjoy. A lot of work for little return! Face it, nobody is ever going to get rich from publishing a book like this.

Another difficulty is that no collection contains everything, so you do have to sometimes source photographs from the web. I have been trying to use non copyrighted material, but photographs taken from the web would not be acceptable in a formerly published book. For my future projects I will probably come to some of you for help on photographs!

This way, working on a book remains fun and I can show more of what I want to show.

On some specific questions:

The Nr 1 backback looks exactly the same as the Nr.2, in fact the construction of the three backbacks is identical but for the number sewn onto the cover. There are also signal backbacks without numbers on them, I assume this were intended for use in radio cars etc as a line connection set. The main difference you would see in the Nr. 1 backpack is that the empty spare reel would not be present.

I don't think I have an original "no stripe" microphone in my collection. So far I have actually not found a completely untouched "no stripe" model. Over the years telephones often get switched in their cases, handsets get exchanged etc. etc. I have also not yet found any original sources documentating the change of microphone so the story has to remain incomplete for now.

My personal photo collection is quite small and geared towards radio trucks, but I would be happy to contribute any photo's I have.

I would be surprised if you would make anything more than beer money from such a specialized work like that. Having said that, think of future generations of collectors and historians. This type of in depth knowledge and information is rapidly disappearing.

The kids these days don't seem to have an attention span longer than it takes to read a text message, but that doesn't mean it won't be valuable down the road.

Funksammler, Nice work. You were kind enough to send me photos of the Aufspuler a few months ago for use in my own handout. I have some feedback regarding text and information presented. For example, instead of the term "earth pin" I would use the term "ground stake" or "grounding stake" to describe the Erdstecker. I know how hard it is to translate German technical language. Even native speakers hate to do it! I have a bit more information on cabling equipment and cabling methods as well. At any rate, I would very much enjoy being one of the people you contact for information and original photos you could use in future efforts. yesterday evening i download your book , at this time i have'nt read everything , but i can tell everybody that you do a wonderfull work, available to evreybody i have seen fernschreiber 24 , if you ever consider to add some pages , i will if you find it interesting give you other pictures of other fernschreiber , like an early version of dr hell 1936
with differents filters , and no 12 pins connector , and 5 rv12p4000
also MS5 1x RV12P2000 +1 RL12P10 and an otherone i have forgot the
label . if you need pictures of WT40 i can furnish them .
for french men DKE38 it's better that this book is english
more people can read it ,WH radio book of pierre metsu is also in english and french .

I'd like to add my thanks for this very generous offer. I was astounded at the amount of useful information and especially by the fact that you are giving this away.
In addition to the three types of collectors, I'd like to add another.
I am a modeller in 1/6th scale and do not collect the real 1:1 items but do use the reference material to make my pieces as correct as possible.
I think the most useful part for me is the set up of the gear and how it was used together.
