After considering a number of options, I have decided to publish my first attempt at writing a book online for free!

About the Book

The subject matter in this volume is limited to what I termed “Field Line Communications equipment”. It shows what could typically be found in a German field army and was used by the fighting troops and their immediate headquarters.

In this book I am trying to combine the historic, technical and practical information on German Field Line communications equipment. It shows the equipment from the outside; explains what is on the inside and shows it in typical operational setup. It gives information on how to correctly connect and operate the equipment.

With this collectors should be able to identify the items in their collection and check if they are complete and correct, it can aid the technical enthusiast in figuring out how it works and how it might be repaired while the re-enactor should be able to set up their equipment correctly and give a try operating it.

Is there a catch?

There is no catch, I am just asking you to respect the copyright and downloading provisions I made earlier. My aim is to get this out as widely as possible and get feedback on content, style etc. so that my next book will be even better.

I do not think there is a catch with using Sugarsync, if it does not work out for some reason I will try and find a better free online publishing option.

If my efforts are well received, expect the next volume from "Funksammler Publications" early next year.

I will download your book and absolutely respect your wishes. I would caution though that others may not. Several individuals have downloaded photos and other information from my site which is specifically copyrighted, without asking for permission. I'm even considering placing password access on it to get an access control list in place.

Just downloaded it. First impression after browsing - WOW, it's going to be a couple of sleepless night i'm afraid.

One little notice though - happened to see on the page 126 both "Elementprüfer" and "Elementpruefer". I know that standard US keyboard doesn't consist those umlauf's and lot of information on the net uses latter form of writing...however...maybe sticking with the original form of writing? What other thinks?

I just downloaded your book, & all I can say is "WOW"! This is an outstanding work & a generous contribution to the collector & technical enthusiasts groups everywhere.

I suspect there is a 3rd group also. One that combines both aspects. For me, I am a collector first, but I like all my gear to work also.

I further suspect you may be single handedly be responsible for an upsurge in enthusiasm for this interesting area of German communications. As you know, there is little detailed information out there particularly in how it all goes together, & you have addressed a lot of those shortcomings.

One more notice - page 126 - feldmesskästchen and feldmesskaestchen.

Personally i would love to see the image of the old FF33 microphone, the one without green cross, in case it's totally different - to recognize it. Sorry, never seen it.

Also, i know that each FF33 takes 1.5v battery, but it's not clear enough written whether the two batteries should put in one FF33 and other should left without batteries or one battery goes in one FF and other in another etc. People without understanding electronics could not follow the instructions - "connect the batteries the battery terminals".
