Gauges are an area that I have very little experience with. I know how to test guages, but their repair is a very delicate matter. Does anyone have pointers or background on how to properly repair Wehrmacht gauges?

It's heavily depends what's broken. The heart of the gauge is standard galvanometer and then there are around some resistors or so. Main problem is galvanometer - burned out coil on the wire frame, when someone provides overvoltage to the gauge (tries to measure mains voltage...), broken spiral springs that return the needle - if gauge has dropped, then the delicate mechanism that allows coil to turn - that's broke easily when gauge drops. To repair galvanometer, you need really skilled hands, there's basicly nothing to do with electronics, better be clock repair person Those spiral springs can be replaced but burned out coil is biggest problem. And even if you managed to repair the whole thing, you need to calibrate it.

I believe in this particular case you need to remove first backplate. You probably need using little force (not that star war style force) so find some wooden sticks not to scratch the gauge enclosure. Also look at those two rims around enclosure (one just below engraved K letter).
