    Siemens Desk Telephone

I just picked up a Siemens telephone that is marked WaA *00 . The phone doesnt have a dial on it only a button to push to alert the switchboard operator. The fellow I got it from got it from the grandson of the vet who brought it back. It was as told by his grandfather that he picked it up from the Reichstag building during Co- ocupation with the Russians. The fellow was in the US Signal Corps. I havent taken any photos of the phone yet but will soon. The fellow who I got it from collects antigue phones so maybe this one had no interest to him being a TR phone. He had it wired up to a regualr plug and it still works. It still has the original block to wire it up old school. I wanted to ask if anyone else has any TR desk phones and if they would post pictures if so? I also want to ask about the WaA *00 code, if anyone knows who that is? I noticed alot of the markings on the bakelite parts are numbered just like my binoc case and P38 grips. Thanks for any info any of you can give.

Sound's like a normal Phone for a Guards House. I think they had Phones with more buttons in the RC. Some Years ago I had one with 5 or 6 ones, can't remember for sure. Next is, there was no co-occupation. the first americans entering the city came in the morning of 4th of july 1945, so I would say, the russians took everything before. US signals sounds like Patton Barracks in Berlin what was a Police Barracks and handed back to the Police in 1950 when the Us troops moved to McNair Barracks. So it was maybe found there as they had several entrances with guards houses, also located at the Fence of the Compound. For sure there were several places in the city to find them, but especially Stalins special Target was plundered by the russians in May and june before the americans went in. The next thing is that the RC was in the British Sector what doesn't has to say that the americans didn't collected or "liberated" stuff on other places.

Thanks Nico. The letter I got with the phone has the grandsons phone number on it and I am going to call and try to get anymore info I can. If there is anything that sounds interesting I'll post it here with respect to his grandfather. I noticed you typed (RC) and I assume you refer to reichschancellery (not sure on spelling) , the letter states Reichstag. I dont know Berlin or how close the two were together. He also included a copy of a picture of the Reichstag his grandfather had taken sopposedly while out exploring and while he got the phone.

I just noticed that the photograph is dated July 10th 1945. He was discharged in 1947.
