Sorry to bring the thread back again...
I was just wondering about the material the cap is made of,is it the same wool as a combat uniform or the every day uniform type of material?
I'm looking for a nice tunic to pair the cap with so this info is going to be helpful for me!
I would not be too concerned about trying to match the hat with a tunic based upon the cloth type, but would suggest a dress quality tunic which does not look like anything that looks like it would be worn in the field. The fabric appears to be a doeskin quality IMO.
To chime in on what pauke said: The officer would go to a tailor to have a uniform made and then separately to a hat shop to buy his visor cap, so back then in real life the fabrics didn't match. There were a couple firms that made both caps and uniforms but they are a small minority and the majority of officers would have caps and uniforms made by separate firms. Even if they bought from that small number of firms that made both, the fabric probably wouldn't match even then.
