My interior pictures showing some light wear, the ventilation eyelets and reversed interior washers, and the 'Herringbone' weave of the cloth on the underside of the peak.
(I think that the cracking on the leatherette is perhaps partly to do with age, and possibly even 77 years of collector handling than purely wear?)
The second picture down is a good illustration of the tan sweatband compared to the relatively more green hue of the rest of the cap, when viewed in daylight without a flash.Last edited by PaulW; 11-05-2019, 11:04 PM.

Finally, some closer pictures of the top and bottom of the cockade.
At the bottom it can be seen that as well as the sweatband stitching crossing the cockade (i.e the cockade was added first), the peak sewing line also marginally crosses over the bottom of the cockade.
(The sweatband stitching line was of course interrupted either side of the cockade when the red Waffenfarbe soutache was removed according to the July 1942 regulations.)
Note also the way the end of the cockade sewing is mis-aligned, i.e the end of the sewing does not meet neatly with the beginning - at the bottom of the cockade, in the same way that it does not meet on the eagle - though it is a little neater!
Again, thanks to the German militaria dealer K.P Emig ( https://www.kpemig.de/ ) for excellent service and communication throughout.
