    SS overseas cap

I had these pictures on the uniform forum but got no responses. Would anyone here give me any opinions and what they think the cap could be worth?? It reportedly came from the son of a vet.

Here's a pic of the skull but I got in too close and it came out blurry.

            No responce...

Chuck...I'm surprised on responce yet on your SS cap. I guess the pics make it hard to tell what is going on there. Is the Swaz messed up, or is that the picture?

Personally, SS stuff worries me because the fakes are so good and there are a BUNCH out there...maybe that is the reason for no input, I don't know. Good luck with it...

              ?? Pics

I don't know Skip?? No the Eagle isn't screwed up, it's the way the guy was holding it when I took the picture. I have gotten a private E-Mail from a guy that collects SS stuff though, and he wants me to keep his E-mail address.

Like I said in the uniform forum, this dealer I know and trust was going to place a free add in a local newspaper and his son told him to place an ad about military stuff seeing it was free. He got a call a couple of days after the ad ran and this is what he got.

The guy sid he was the son of a vet that brought these things home: The SS cap, an SS tank top shirt with the gold sport badge sewn on, A Heer officers overseas cap, a 6 ft by 24' long Hitler Youth banner, and a party flag with the makers tag still attached.

I've held the stuff and looked closely at the cap, maker and size printing and the eagle and skull. I believe it to be the real mccoy and will make an offer to buy it in the spring when he comes back from Okla. It is in a safe until then. I also have taken a close look at the SS shirt and believe that to be real as well.

Well I guess we'll see in the spring. Thanks for the reply, Chuck

                m-40 overseas cap

The overseas cap you posted images of appears to be cut correctly for the SS feldmutze neuer art (new version). The insignia appear to be authentic from the sharper of the images you posted. The condition of cap and insignia looks to be very good. This model overseas cap in field grey for enlisted man is considered scarce (not rare). The market price I would guess to be between $1200 and $1800. Black version (rare) of same cap or an Officer's piped version (very rare) could command twice that price. Just my opinion.
