I just bought this overseas cap and other items from a guy who has owned them for 50 years. Is everything ok? My main concern is that there is no maker, size or date stamp on the inside. Thanks for any help.

Could be a nice private purchase cap. The thing that puts me off a little is the diffence in the quality of the application of the cockade versus the eagle. For a tailor made cap, I think the application of the eagle is pretty poorly done.
Overall I like it, but not enough to take the chance..Comment

Thank you gentlemen. I know he bought it 50 years ago from a military surplus dealer. Were they making fake caps (coastal artillery) back then?
I was think inking it could be a private purchase, tailor made cap too. For what it's worth, it is negative under a black light.

Update
I took the cap to a militaria show this weekend and showed it to 3 different dealers. All thought the insignia looked ok but didn't like the cap. One thought the material might also be period and maybe from a coat, and possibly the whole thing might be ok. I guess the only way to know for sure would be to have a time machine.
