I was going to ask about the insignia thanks for the above post.

It should be noted that some original LW Officer caps had smooth visor under sides. At least some Halfer caps come to mind and there may be others that I do not know

That's true, lack of cross hatching on the underside of the visor is not necessarily the kiss of death.
