    Berolina police visor

Was this proven as fake? Tried to find the thread referenced on his auction but came up blank

    Hallo peety

    I don’t understand your question.

The auction ended today at $ 545.00

    Are you the winner?

If not, what is your opinion about?

The seller said: This cap was shown on the WAF in a thread about Berolina visor caps and, because of the piping being significantly darker than used by the Schupo, was thought to be a possible post-war cap with replaced Polizei insignia. There were no subsequent discussions pertaining to this cap. It is being offered at a bargain opening bid because of the question about its authenticity.

Anyway, there are five pages of threads about Berolina on WAF. I searched them and I found the specific thread:

    http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...berolina+logos

The visor is shown at no. 24 and it didn’t receive a favourable judgement. Its lining & logo are common with no. 1, 2, 14, 26, 30, 41, 42, 43. As you can see for yourself, even no. 50 (that was correctly described by Chris as a late-late war specimen) shows the common traits of the true Berolina’s logo. So, if you make a comparison with the numbers I cited above, you will see immediately that unfortunately they are postwar fakes

    Best regards

Sorry, I did not see the auction until it ended and was curious if there was a conclusive opinion, and now I see there indeed was one. Thank you.

Berolina never used that particular logo.
It was regularly used on a series of high-end fakes in the 90s.

Here's a good example of what Chris mentioned.

Mike, thanks for that one--great example of how good these were for their time.

Here is the Postschutz "General" visor (which is a complete fantasy).
They all have the same sweatband, and the logos are foiled onto the exterior sweatdiamond:

                    Glad to hear it.

Would have been nice for a thread to have been started on this hat before the auction started....just sayin'.
