Hi I would really appreciate some opinions on this hat.
On searching the archives here and online the only nearest thing i could find was same construction as this but no insignia and brown fleece or fur.
It has a repair to the front which is possibly period.
The material under the ear flaps is same as the liner. The front flap where the insignia is sewn is backed with the same material as the body of the cap.
The front has been tacked open in each corner i assume this is a modification by the original owner.
The makers label is curious as ever example i have found has the date 1942 next to the word Hoffmann. on closer inspection it appears the label was folded over when it was applied,in my last picture you can just about's see the 1942 date on the edge of the fold.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers
Dave
