    Heer Cap

Need a little help with this officer cap.
Insignia looks ok to me, can anyone make out or know the stamp on the leather sweatband?
And more importantly is this cap original?

    Thanks for the help

Thanks gentlemen for your comments, Ive attatched one more photo of the edelweiss,
I'll post some better photos when it arrives.
Any other feedback on the cap?
Any reason for some having a leather sweatband and others not?

        thanks again

I saw the cap in person...it had a few post-war repairs that weren't shown in the auction's photos.

The interior appears to have been 'taken-up'.

I believe the stamp is Qualitats Marke.

Not a fan to be honest, insignia looks to be bad in the new photos and certainly not applied in a way I'd be comfortable with. I'd pass on it.

                Cheers,
                -Steve

Yes, that is what it looked like in hand.

Thanks for the more detailed pics of the interior
I think your right on the stamping on the sweatband
Any ideas on what is going on with the stitching inside? Someone doing a amateur repair post war?
I still think the trap is a good one.

                      Hello,

The trapezoid insignia is a very nice original variation. They are not seen that often here in the states. I have both a flatwire and enlisted version.

My guess on the weird interior stitching is that it was done to ‘hem’ the cap so as to provide a better fit to the wearer. Other than that one would be left to conclude that something more nefarious is going on.

Has anyone every seen a cap that was altered to provide a better fit?

The cap shows very little wear or field use, IMO. Made me wonder why someone would ‘hem’ it. And, I knew the estate where the cap came from.

Pretty sure we’ve all seen caps that have been altered. The body of this cap does not appear to have been but the lining has a piece of rayon spliced in as a repair it seems. Looks nicely done.
