    Tarn Überzug für Schirmmütze

Anyone ever seen another? I would presume field-made:

Chris, brilliant pic. I have read about officers doing this, especially to protect against snipers. However never seen an example. They also covered their shoulder boards or wore them upside down. I have seen a period pic of that. J

        Field made cover .
The only white camo industry made covers were for Bergmütze, not for Schirmmütze .

I've not seen this before, either. There doesn't seem to be much camouflage value to it. Sticks out like a sore thumb. Perhaps it's a waterproof cover?

Waterproof cover makes sense as well. J

I've seen and had a LW Schirmmütze with a detachable sand cover but it was without piping ,cut like a white cover .
I've had a wool grey detachable cover which was with yellow piping .
But not a sand one with yellow piping . Why not ?

                        Interesting Nick.

My initial thought about the cover I posted pics of was that the fabric looks post war.

It looks good to me , looking at how it's made ? synthetic or wool piping ?

Perhaps, but in any case the purpose in the initial picture is certainly for camouflage I would think, the guy sitting in a snowy area.

For waterprotection it would stand out even more wouldn't you think? Grey would be the more logical colour then IMO.
