Mint Tropenhelm Heer Shields "PuC" Marked for Reference

    Hello All,

I couldn't find many examples of these PuC maker marked Pith Shields on the Forum, so I thought I would add these for reference. These unissued examples are about as mint as one could hope to find. I believe "PuC", for these, stand for the firm of Paulmann und Crone of Lüdenscheid (which is still in business today).

(I've seen other references that suggest the "PuC" might be for firms, such as Peek and Cloppenburg or Paul Cramer & Co., so please let me know if my assumption is incorrect).

    All comments are appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Eric

Hard to tell from the photos, but does either shield have the reverse pebbling ? Maybe just the eagle ?

        Hello Tim,

I am not sure I understand the question - there are a number of photos, glad to post more - can you help me understand the specificity?

        Thanks,

        Eric

          Hi Eric

Take a look at these shields in Nicola's thread.
Is the black mottled area behind the eagle & in the tricolor the same as the shields in Nicola's thread, or reversed (pitted) ?

          Hope thats helps.
          Tim
