    Got another "salty dog" in.

This time it's a Heer M42 cap that recently arrived. I've long read these were not popular with the troops, that the Schiffchen and later M43 Einheitsfeldmuetze were much more loved. However, I like it a lot. Tons of character that give it that "been there" look. It will go well with my salty officer's M38 Schiffchen that I posted a while back.

Very nice, every headgear collector needs one of these. J

Thanks Jacques! I set the "new" cap next to some friends for comparison.

Now, that is a representative collection of headgear. I still short an officers m42. J

Thank-you for the kind words gentlemen. The two caps on the ends (on stands) came my way this year, but the three in the middle I've had for ages. The "officer's" Schiffchen with the Pionier Soutache is an issued cap upgraded to officer and has the officer's name tag stitched inside and part of the central rib or spine down the center is cut out on the interior for comfort.
