It seems to have tissue paper tucked into it, maybe that's giving the impression the pleats are not right.

I like this cap more than I don't...

Maybe my gut is wrong then and I must admit that I have not handled that many later war eReL's.

The bunched up cap cover around the middle piping seam does bother me a bit though.
