Some of you might have seen this visor on the Collectors Guild website.
It was obviously in a sorry state but I kept going back to look because there was something about it that I really liked. It was difficult to judge how it might look after a restoration but I took a gamble on it anyway.
It was a lot more work than expected but I'm pleased with how it turned out. There was quite a bit of glue which is a pain to remove and the pasteboard was in a thousand bits and beyond saving so another was sourced from a period Feuerwehr cap.
It's a stylish looking cap IMO, the colour of the feldgrau fabric, the fat piping and the overall shape are all very pleasing.
I know some frown on restorations but let's not get into that discussion yet again please!
