    SS Officers Visor Restoration

Some of you might have seen this visor on the Collectors Guild website.

It was obviously in a sorry state but I kept going back to look because there was something about it that I really liked. It was difficult to judge how it might look after a restoration but I took a gamble on it anyway.

It was a lot more work than expected but I'm pleased with how it turned out. There was quite a bit of glue which is a pain to remove and the pasteboard was in a thousand bits and beyond saving so another was sourced from a period Feuerwehr cap.

It's a stylish looking cap IMO, the colour of the feldgrau fabric, the fat piping and the overall shape are all very pleasing.

I know some frown on restorations but let's not get into that discussion yet again please!

    Cheers
    Ben

Nice work Ben! Although I agree with the massive restoration. Collectors may be treated by your work.
