Can we see more pics from the lining under the sweatband?
Skull and bird are 100% original. Cap is a early reichswehr type.

I always have a problem if you have a unworn hat, with a name tag. In this case an early unworn visor, with a ss nco name tag . Unless he was killed killed early or there is clear provenance, I would guess the name tag was added to add to the visor desirability. Not that is necessary. J

Not to mention that the nametag is for an RKT!

I don't believe it is the same cap in the photo.

Reasons being the eagle is positioned slightly higher from the piping and the shape of the cap is more rounded than a more point shape to the top in the photo.
Not sure if this observation has been picked up and noted.

                      cheers

Totally agree with NCO...even the buckles on the chinstrap are in a totally different position.

I'm guessing the chinstrap is probably a replacement anyway, as it's obviously worn and the cap is mint.

Nobody is saying it is the same cap. The clue is in the persons wearing the cap.J Btw Chris has already alluded to that.

                            Exactly.

The hat is named to an RKT, which is always cause for concern.
The photo was not shown in the listing, but it is of the RKT (who did die in 1941).

An additional concern is the empty holes that are visible in the lining.

I keep coming back to look at this cap because I'm not sure what to make of it.

Seems correct overall although the mega mint condition of the sweatband and vulcanfibre peak is curious. It's a small size cap but even so, the sweat shield seems very big. Not sure if I'm looking at empty holes in the lining or not and even if they are, that's not always the kiss of death.

I'm totally ignoring the paper name tag. That's has nothing to do with authenticating the cap.

The most intriguing part for me though is the TK.
Is that a recently spray painted zinc Overhoff or a very rare aluminium version? If it's aluminium, it would be worth perusing this cap just to get hold of that skull.

The one thing I've learnt over many years of collecting is to never rule anything out. You can find fake caps with authentic insignia and vica versa and everything in between.
