Nice original second model billed trop M40 Fred,

hard to find, small manufacturer of these. It is interesting/ unusual that he is still using a full name/ address but no RB number in a cap depot marked "M43". You see address with RB number or just the RB number but rarely just an address only by 1943.

I like the way that the German soldier who used it has cut the sweatband to suit his taste/ climate.

The only down point is that someone has painted red primer on the grommets. Probably to inhabit/ stop the rust.

However, the badges are original to the cap and it is made from the earlier "Sage-green" twill which is a lot less common for the second model M40's

Every chance it was made very early in 1943.

Yep a nice one-look cap. Interesting to see the grommets preserved with thread and painted over as well. Also the sweatband as been partially removed and the back seem split open at some point as the caps original size was to small for the owner, hence modified.

This maker is not on our list but will be shortly
